Consortium Pilot ProjectsWest Coast Alliance
Meeting planned by Oregon Health and Science
University and University of California, Davis
  • 56 representatives from all four west coast
    CTSA institutions
  • Presentations from each CTSA site
  • Opportunities to collaborate and share
    strengths
  • Discussion of building investigator and
    scientific collaborationsopportunities across
    centers
  • Program-focused breakout sessions

Consortium Pilot ProjectsWest Coast Consortium
Results from break-out sessions
  • Monthly discussions between Informatics groups at
    OHSU and UCD
  • Collaborations on specific Informatics projects
    across the four centers
  • Focus on development of core competencies in
Research education reciprocal reviews of K12
    applications OHSU/UCD
  • Community engagement planning of regional
    workshop
  • Generally personal interaction and knowledge of
center strengths and focus lowers barriers for
    interaction

Public-Private Partnerships - Mission
  • Facilitate the implementation of partnerships
with industry, other academia and patient
advocacy groups, to support and conduct medical
research, research training and the dissemination
    of information by
  • Sharing best practices across the CTSA consortium
  • Coordinating CTSA consortium-wide exchange of
    information
  • Providing assistance with new or established
partnerships to identify partners and partnership
    models

8
Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) ExampleThe
West Coast Licensing Partnership
  • Adds value by bundling related technologies over
    individual tools and technologies
  • Strengthens inter-institutional relationships
    between member partners
  • Increases global access to research tools by
    promotion of non-exclusive licensing
  • Provides simple one-stop licensing of
    technologies from multiple institutions
  • Saves time and money from negotiating multiple
    license agreements
  • Oregon CTSA is part of a group of institutions
willing to designate a subset of their
technologies for marketing and licensing purposes

9
CTSA Pilot Projects
  • TRaining And Nurturing Scientists FOr
  • Research that is Multidisciplinary
  • (TRANSFORM) Program
  • By bringing diverse scientists together at the
beginning of their scientific career, we believe
we can forge new collaborations and
multidisciplinary teams to tackle the large,
complex public health challenges we face.
  • Karin Davidison, Ph.D.
  • Co-Director, TRANSFORM
