Title: My Ideal Technological Classroom

1
My Ideal Technological Classroom
  • Christa Church

2
Digital Camera
  • With a digital camera, I would be able to
  • Document student work and lessons
  • Let students use the camera for their own work
  • Take it on my own trips and then share pictures
with the class connecting it to our current
    lesson
  • Discuss the parts of the camera and learn how to
use it and upload pictures onto a computer
  • Become familiar with some type of Photo Shop
where students can alter and change photos

3
Computer
  • Whether it is one computer or a computer for each
student, it will still be of a great advantage to
me. With a computer I would be able to
  • Teach students the rules and basics of the
computer and important programs such as,
Microsoft Power Point, Word, Publisher, and Front
    Page
  • Allow students to create movies and projects that
go along with our current lesson
  • Use the internet as a reliable, yet safe source
    of a lot of information
  • Teach students how to safe surf the web for
    information they are looking for
  • Teach students how to successfully cite their
    sources from the internet
  • Find programs that coincide with our current
    lesson
  • Find programs that incredibly help learning for
    special needs students

4
Digital Video Camera
  • There are so many things you can do with this
resource. In my classroom I would use this to
  • Record classes and then send videos home for
    parents
  • Use class footage for parent/teacher conferences
  • Traveling outside of the classroom and then
bringing it in to share with the class
  • Recording lessons for observation and for use
    next year
  • Connecting the outside world with what we are
    learning in the classroom

5
Tape Recorder with Books on Tape
  • A tape recorder can work really well with younger
students because they are very interested in
    hearing their own voices.
  • It also helps us as teachers evaluate things like
reading out loud and phonemic awareness.
  • It allows us to record and review student
    progress.
  • Books on tape give students another take on
    reading and listening.
  • They allow students to concentrate by themselves
    on the story.
  • It makes it fun to read and listen to the voices
    and tone of the characters.

6
Internet
  • The internet is a wonderful resource in any
classroom when used in a safe way.
  • I would use a safe search engine and for my
younger students I would have all the sites they
    may use bookmarked.
  • The internet is a great way for students to
explore a topic we are learning about and enhance
    their view of the topic.
  • This is also a great source for teachers to find
almost anything you need lessons, activities,
    games, ideas and more.
  • I would like to someday have our own class
website for parents and students to see what we
are learning about. This is also a great way for
students to learn about creating a web site.

7
CD Player
  • A CD player seems simple but I believe it can
    really enhance classroom activities.
  • I would use it to play music during independent
work. (As long as it does not become a
    distraction for students.)
  • I would also like to use it to play CDs that
have to do with what we are learning. You can
find songs about almost any topic and this really
helps students remember the lesson in their
    heads.

8
TV and DVD player/VCR
  • DVDs and movies can really enhance the lesson
    when used the correct way.
  • I would use these in my classroom to show
students how certain lessons might apply to the
    outside world.
  • We could also use this to play videos that we
record of our own class and to revisit previous
    topics.

9
LCD projector
  • An LCD projector is a great way to introduce
students to a new topic without distraction.
  • When introducing a new computer program for my
students I could display it on the projector and
explore with the entire class rather than just
having a few students at a time explore. This
eliminates students being overwhelmed and too
    excited over a new activity.
  • This also helps me be interacting with the class
as well as the technology we are using.
