1As any wine expert will emphasise, a proper
cellar is where a wine really comes into its
own. Its delicate structure needs a perfectly
balanced environment in order to mature to
perfection. Even the most precious wine can
lose its taste and value if kept in a storage
facility that does not carefully monitor and
control the smallest of details. Welcome

5 6HISTORY
- Quarried in 1868, and mined until 1934.
- Bath stone from the site has contributed to some
wonderful pieces of architecture throughout the
Commonwealth. - In 1934, the Corsham site was taken over by the
MOD and used as a munitions facility - It was
purpose-built for this. - Nigel Jagger purchased the mine in 1989, heavily
invested in it and in January 1991 it became a
fine wine storage facility. - Corsham Cellars is now home to over 10,000 fine
wine collectors - from 39 countries worldwide.
7The Cellars
- The Cellars are 1 million sq ft and house 750,000
cases of fine wine
8THE ESSENTIALS
- Humidity
- A naturally high level of humidity. Packaging
and labeling remain in good condition, due to
sophisticated dehumidifiers to maintain the
humidity between 75 and 80. - Temperature Air Quality
- A naturally stable temperature and perfect
insulation. Dynamic temperature control maintains
a steady 13 to 14 degrees Celsius. To avoid stale
air, Corsham Cellars has a remarkable ventilation
system. - Light Vibration
- At 100 feet under the surface, our cellars are
naturally devoid of sunlight. The cellars are
encased in solid stone, with 20 feet thick
floors, so vibration from outside is
non-existent. - Security Integrity
- The natural security elements are further
reinforced with 24 hour security cover a day. The
entire site is constantly monitored by infrared
beams, movement detectors and security cameras.
