Future Plans
  • Development of novel data fusion methods for
    characterizing dynamic processes in
geomorphology, e.g., coastal erosion and flood
    risk, landslides
  • Development and commercialization of processing
and visualization software for fusing multisensor
    data

Advancing Coastal Hazard Assessment with
Satellite Geodesy
  • UB is an international partner of gCOAST, which
is a pilot project sponsored by Phase IV of
GEOIDE that will reinforce the strength of
    Canadian geodetic, oceanographic and geomatics
    research.
  • Our plans include the collection of Mapping the
Niagara River morphology by airborne, terrestrial
and boat-mounted laser scanners and bathymetry.
  • Methods to be developed for data fusion to
    monitor coastal environment
  • Participants
  • Bea Csatho and Marcus Bursik (UB), Alexander
Braun (U. of Calgary), Toni Schenk (OSU/UB)

Summary
  • Bob Raum, chair of Industrial Advisory Board of
CIES, has provided invaluable assistance to
engage to RSL in activities related to imaging
science in NY state, especially in interactions
    between universities and industry
  • Although remote sensing could provide critically
    needed information for monitoring important
surficial processes of our planet -- it is
    difficult to commercialize applications related
    to geologic remote sensing
  • We have a great team and we will keep going!!!
