Throat Microphone Testing

Purpose

• Analyze throat microphone for speech recognition
  in clean room type environment and low background
  noise environment

Recap

• Changed the throat microphone jack to RC jack
• Tested the throat mic, gave us relatively low
  volume
• Installed software (Dragon Naturally Speaking,
  IBM ViaVoice SDK)
• Tested Regular Microphone with these software's
  dictating stories provided through the software.

Experimental Setup 1 Clean Environment

• Record a sentence, i.e See Spot run with
  regular microphone using normal speech voice
• Record the same sentence with throat mic using
  normal speech voice
• Use spectrogram function in Matlab to view all
  two cases to compare and contrast
• Repeat with a soft whisper voice

• Play music in background, measure the sound level
  with soundmeter
• Record a sentence, i.e See Spot run with
  regular microphone using normal speech
• Record the same sentence with throat mic using
  normal speech
• Use spectogram function in Matlab to view all two
  cases to compare and contrast
• Repeat with a soft whisper voice
• Test with other sound levels

  actually received correctly compare to what it
  didnt pick up correctly.
• Make table showing the data results to compare
  and contrast.

Purpose

• To provide students with an option of free
  printing with minor advertisements on the page as
  oppose to paying for printing

Procedure for ADS (in Bluford Library)

• Open Up word document
• Under file, select page setup, under margins lab
  click portrait
• Open up internet browser, go to www.ncat.edu.
  Scroll down the NC AT Today scroll Box located
  on the main page and click Weekly Calendar
• Click the Snapshot icon and select what you want
  to copy on the pdf file

• Go Back to word document, paste the copied
  selection on the document. Move the selection to
  the center of the page.
• Double click the image. Click the Picture tab.
  Under Image Control, select washout.
• Click the Layout tab. Then click the Behind Text
  icon.
• Save the file by day

• Print to file
• Put in the directory, C\saprint\printer\blufordL
• Repeat for Landscape

Human Subjects testing

• Software Pop-up of a survey
• For example, ask the user if it is there first
  time using, if so follow up with a survey. If no,
  go back to the ads main menu.
