    India- one of only four countries remaining
    afflicted with polio.
  • Raise 100,000,000 through Rotary International
    in order to have the Bill and Melinda Gates
    Foundation match their donation.

  • Short term goals Raise funds in order to
    purchase the oral polio vaccine for three regions
    in India.

Targeting
Target areas of India Uttar Pradesh (near Delhi
in Haryana) and Bihar. Location- Northern
regions bordering Nepal.

  • Haryana- approx. 426,472 children born in a
    year.
  • 35,539 children born in a month
  • Uttar Pradesh- approx. 3,560,469 children born in
    a year.
  • 296,706 children born in a month.
  • Bihar- approx. 1,734,676 born in a year
  • 144,557 children born in a month

Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)
  • OPV is supplied in 2ml vials
  • Two drops of the vaccine is equivalent to one
    dose.
  • There are a total of twenty doses per vial (40
    drops per vial)
  • According to Rotary International, three drops of
    the OPV are administered in order to alleviate a
    child of the chances of becoming inflicted with
    the virus
  • After calculations- 13 children can be vaccinated
    and saved per one 2ml vial of OPV

  • 13 children can be vaccinated per one 2ml vial
  • At only 0.08 cents/dose, 1.60/vial.
  • Haryna - 4,374.05 is needed to vaccinate all the
    children born in one month
  • Uttar Pradesh - 36,518.40 is needed to vaccinate
    all the children born in one month
  • Bihar - 17,791.63 is needed to vaccinate all the
    children born in one month
  • In total 58,684.06 is needed for the total
    vaccination of children born in these regions for
    one month
