  • Founded by OVP and Intel Capital
  • Link the key players/companies in Oregon to
    extract extra opportunity/support/insight (e.g.
    first dinner discussion held 2003).
  • Create a VC community around elements of this
    cluster (e.g. IXP food chain with OVP, Intel
    capital and Foundation funding UXComm)
  • Retain and attract outstanding telecom talent in
    Oregon (e.g. Oresis CTO moves to Radisys CTO
    due to this network).
  • Help keep the NW the most active internet/wired
    region in USA

Oregon and Washington the most wired in the US
  • In 2002, the Pacific Northwest was the most
    wired region in America fully 68 of adults in
    Washington and Oregon use the Internet. This is
    substantially higher than the national average of
    59. The Pacific Northwest has long been the
    countrys most wired region - in 2001, 66 of its
    adults online, as opposed to 56 of adults
    nationwide. As far back as 2000, 57 of adults in
    the Northwest were online, seven percentage
    points higher than the then national average of
    50.
