4Build your quiz - manually
How to Build Your QuizOnce you have selected
which game to build 1. Enter a Question alongside
each number. 2. Enter the alternative responses
in the four spaces Alongside the question. 3.
Select the correct answer.(When your Quiz is
generated the Answers will be rearranged.)4. To
create your quiz click the Build My Quiz
button.('Beat The Clock' only available in the
Standalone version)
5Build your own quiz using a txt file
- This is where it gets a bit tricky but once
mastered text files can be utilised in a variety
of games. - For Multiple choice quizzes type your question,
responses, and correct answer in a text file in
the following format - question,answer a,answer b,answer
c,answer d,C - Save as a .txt file in the correct game
subdirectory - Then on the build your quiz screen hit the load
text file button.
6Setting up files - Saving questions and
answers
The QuizGame Master program is typically stored
under C\Program Files\QuizGameMaster. Existing
files for the games are stored in subdirectories
related to the names of the games. The file you
create when you enter the questions and answers
manually is stored as a text file in this case
match.txt The next time you create questions
and answers in this way the file will be
overwritten with the new data. To save each set
of questions and answers the following procedure
is essential.
7Copy QGM files
- Copy, do not move, all the files in the
appropriate Quiz Game directory to a new
location. All the files required for a particular
quiz are stored together in the same directory to
make it easier to copy completed quizzes
elsewhere. - For example, all the files required to run the
Bankrupt Game are stored in a directory called
bankrupt
8Copy QGM Files to a new directory
Copy (not move) all QuizGameMaster subdirectories
into a new directory ie Carpentry QuizGameMaster
9File management
- I then add a sub- directory in which I keep all
my game files listed under the subject name. For
example wallframe_complete_10 has 10 questions
on wall frames formatted for the Complete the
Phrase game.
10File management cont
- Once you have created the text file put it
in the game directory so it can be loaded when
you build your quiz. - Change the name of the old text file
- Then change the name of the new text file to
the name required by the program i.e. for this
game the file must be called complete.txt for
the dungeon game it must be dungeon.txt etc.
11Build the quiz
- Next run QGM program
- Select the game you wish to build.
- Complete the phrase in this example.
12Load Text file - Oops it needs editing
If, after hitting the Load Text File button, you
come across a message like this it is telling you
your text file needs a bit of editing work, QGM
doesnt like apostrophes (), or you may need to
rearrange your quote marks. Hint you can make
changes manually then check the text file to see
what format the program supports.
13That looks better
- Dont forget to give your quiz a title
- And enter the number of questions.
- Now hit the build my quiz button
14Your quiz has been created
There it is
15Save your file
- At this stage I would rename and copy the txt
file back into my Carpentry games file directory.
- This is so that I dont overwrite it next time I
build another quiz for complete the phrase.
16View your Game
To view your completed game find the associated
browser file
17Your game in a browser
Your game will open up in your browser.
