• High School Spanish I
• You will learn to read, write, speak AND listen
  in Spanish
• You will not ask me why Spanish isnt the same as
  English Why do I say that?

This class is to prepare you for Spanish II

• When you finish this class this year you will be
  ready for Spanish II
• We will cover the introductory chapter through
  Chapter 7
• We will be watching videos, creating videos,
  listening to music and Spanish and writing music
  and Spanish conversations

Why learn Spanish

• 2nd most spoken language in world after Mandarin
  Chinese
• Will soon be the Majority of people in the US
  (English speaking will not be in the majority)
• And for some of you.Blaine Larsen says to learn
  it! If the country stations are talking about
  Spanish it must be becoming popular!

Expectations Consequences

• On time means you are in your seat the moment the
  class starts!!!
• You come in quietly, take paper from the
  bookshelf if you need it and then SIT!
• Bring your pencils, paper, pens and textbooks
• Listen and follow class instructions

Expectations Consequences part 2

• Dont speak unless I call on you raise your
  hand, I dont read minds
• Show courtesy to others (especially me) ?
• Do not distract people from learning that is
  rude and childish and you will be given either an
  infraction OR a special teacher detention with me
  writing the Spanish dictionary down word by word.

Expectations Consequences part 3

• Assignments are due on time at this school that
  means you will turn your homework in on the first
  day for full credit.
• Second day you will get 80 of what your grade
  would have been. So if you only did 50 of the
  work you will only get 80 of the 50 or what
  is it.

• Dont bring food or drink or gum into my room.
• Plagiarism on a project (copying someone elses
  words and putting them verbatim into your work)
  will be a 0. I consider that cheating which is
  also a 0

How to succeed without really trying..

• Listen in class and participate give everyone a
  chance to participate!
• Listen to your classmates after I have asked
  the same question to 20 people before you and YOU
  do not know the answer I will know that you did
  NOT listen
• Do your vocabulary without fail and practice with
  it

How to succeed without really trying..

• Three step method when writing sentences
• 1. Write the sentence.
• 2. Re-read the sentence for accuracy in
  spelling, gender and number.
• 3. Read the sentence aloud to give yourself
  extra practice with speaking.

How to have fun in Spanish

• Do your work it is so much more fun to talk and
  work with Spanish if you know what is going on!
• Sing
• Laugh
• Use Spanish in at any time and any location.
  Think how much you can drive your siblings nuts!
