Purpose
  • Flood management structures protect
  • More than 1000 homes from flooding
  • However the West London Dyke is damaged and
    needs replacement

  • It was concluded that a significant portion of
    the 350 m section of the dyke from Oxford St
    bridge to Riverside Dr. bridge Harris Park to
    Forks has come to the end of its useful life and
    needs to be replaced rather than repaired

Dyke Specifications
  • 2374m long
  • Runs along west bank of North branch
  • From Oxford St to the forks of the Thames
  • Then, along the west bank of the main branch

  • 950 m point to 1300 m point (350 m length) needs
    replacement
  • Require 1250 year event protection
  • On average, current dyke is 0.7 m below
    regulatory flood line
  • Required elevation
  • 236.51 m (250-yr flood)
