PHG for DCB to EC 2feb06
  • Items for Discussion
  • Agenda for Fermilab meeting Feb 13-14
  • RDR Questions to Area System Leaders
  • PHG, with additions from Kephart Shidara
  • WBS status markup of draft
  • Wilhelm B, w additions from PHG Ewan P.
  • Draft outline of RDR text (not sent to EC)
  • PHG, under review by Nan P.

2
Agenda of Fermilab meeting Feb 13-14
  • Gotta make sure information is flowing!
  • Tor and I discussed on Friday
  • Realistic Schedule gt RDR Status Board
  • matrix of deadlines, reviews, etc. vs. AS
  • Technical Systems, CFS, and AS should say
  • what (follow-up) info they still need
  • what they plan to accomplish when
  • Tuesday TS should cycle thru each AS
  • CM, Cavities, RF specialties, different freq.
    etc.

3
Questions to Area Systems
  • PHG had presented at KEK
  • added comments from KEK
  • Bob Kephart and Tetsuo Shidara
  • added contributions
  • Gotta make sure information is flowing!
  • I think it is ready to release now.

Draft WBS Wilhelm 30jan06marked-up by Peter G.
  • Although DCB is using the SLAC JAVA tool to
generate and manipulate the WBS, it doesnt give
nice tabular printout for people who arent using
    the JAVA tool.
  • So, Ive sent 3 files with increasing level of
    detail Level 3 (1.2.3) 80 elements
  • Level 4 (1.2.3.4) 260 elements
  • full (all levels) 470 elements

(2)
  • The full WBS gives each lowest active element a
cost of a few 0.1 of the total
  • This was estimated from the USLCTOS WBS (w/ cost
    estimates) for cold 500 GeV
  • I kept opening lower levels of each section of
USLCTOS WBS until this sensitivity was attained,
and then recommended to Wilhelm that some
additional levels be added to his ILC draft WBS.

(3)
  • These additions are in the areas of CryoModule
    Assembly, Klystron accessories, RF Power
    Distribution Interlocks, Controls, and
Cryogenics. I inserted these in markups.
  • The CFS WBS (matrix over Area Systems), which is
still draft, needs inclusion into WBS.
  • I would like to get WBS Level 2
to correspond to Area Systems RF
    CFS Infrastructure (TSGS)

(4)
  • There are still questions of how/where to include
EDIA labor at lowest WBS, L3, separate
    sections support administration
  • Requesting 2 levels of labor (cost ranges)
    engineers ( scientists) technical staff
  • Even with these outstanding needs, it is
important to get this preliminary information out
now so AS, TS, GS can start planning, even
    without the final WBS skeleton

Draft outline of RDR Text (PHG _at_ KEK) just
received prelim comments from Nan
  • Need clearer examples of interface sections
  • thats easy, I think
  • Introduction will need lots of work
  • How much Accelerator Phys in AS sections?
how much AP overview is needed?
  • How much history, especially in Main Linac?
  • Still a bit of work before ready to release.
