- Provides direct funding to NGOs and CBOs up to a
maximum of 50,000 / per project - Has funded more than 2800 community-based projects

- The SGPs greatest challenge is to reconcile GEF
criteria and community needs and priorities.
7Capacity Building and Raising Awareness
- SGP projects meet this challenge by building
local capacities and raising public awareness
about GEFs main concerns -- biodiversity
conservation, climate change mitigation, and
international waters protection.

- To date, SGP has mobilized more than 55 million
in co-financing. - In year 4 of the 2nd operational phase, the SGP
is committed to mobilizing 22 million in cash
and in-kind -- that is, matching GEF funding.
