Band Class meets three times a week and has an
enrollment of 188 students for the 2005-06 school
year. During the Marching season with the
auxiliary units included, the total number of
participating students is 220.

8Chorus
The Concert Choir meets three times a week, with
an enrollment of 80 students. The Girls Chorus
meets twice a week with 90 students participating.

10Orchestra
There are 80 string students in the High School
string program. They meet three times a week,
twice as a String Orchestra and once as a Full
Orchestra. The Full Orchestra includes brass,
winds, and percussionists from the Music Major
Class. The total number of students involved in
the Full Orchestra is 110 students.
11Music Major
The Music Major Class meets twice a week. One of
these meetings are for a Wind Ensemble rehearsal.
The Wind Ensemble allows the band students the
opportunity to explore and perform more advanced
band literature. The remaining rehearsal allows
for the top brass, winds, and percussionists the
ability to participate in the Full Orchestra.
There are presently 48 students enrolled in this
class. An audition and director approval is
necessary to be a member of this class.
12Music Performance Based Classes
All music performance oriented classes require
the students to be enrolled in their Core
Ensemble class, (Band, Concert Choir,
Orchestra). Besides the class instruction, all
participating students are required to have a
sectional once a week, which is scheduled out of
a study halls. All music performance classes are
level three course work requiring grading based
on playing exams, general participation and
attendance to all performances.

15Spring Musical
Usually, at the end of March, the Music
Department combines all their efforts, talents,
and skills to produce their Spring Musical. With
some assistance from the AV, Tech Ed, Art, and
Drama Departments a Broadway Themed Show is
crafted providing both entertainment to the
community and an excellent learning experience to
all the students involved. It is the Music
Departments hope to present Seussical the
Musical on March 23rd, 24thth, 25th and 26th.

17Roughly one out of every five Dallastown High
School students have some affiliation with the
High School Music Department. Over an average
school year, the Music Department presents and
have their students involved in 50 plus
performances either in the form of community
services, school oriented activities, music
education centered performances, and festivals
and competitions.
