• Researching your past

Assignment

• Choose ONE of the countries or cultures that you
  are descended from (Ex Norwegian)
• Research the type of art that culture made
  throughout history (not just one era)
• Write a 3 page paper OR create a poster board
  with the information.

Requirements (both)

• Research MUST CONTAIN
• the cultures dates (the earliest possible date
  the culture existed to today).
• the types of media MOST OFTEN used (painting,
  sculpture, etc.)
• the STYLE of art most often used (Surrealism,
  Expressionism, etc.)
• a biography on TWO artists from your culture.
• any information on cultural influence on art
  (Romans stole ideas from Greeks)

Requirements continued

• At least 3 pictures of examples of art from the
  culture.
• An explanation of the iconography and social
  context of any ONE work of art from your culture.
• A reflection by you on how the culture has
  influenced who you are today (are their any
  correlations?)
• Example Edvard Munch was a Norwegian artist who
  created very dark and depressing art, which is
  the art that most appeals to me.

Assignment

• You can write EITHER a 3 page paper in 12 pt
  font, SINGLE space (not including the pictures)
• Or create a poster board similar to the one we
  did before over the assigned artist. It MUST be
  creative and contain ALL required information.
• Do not give me the bare minimum or your grade
  will suffer.

Hints

• Be creative and thorough (the more you present,
  the better your grade will be)
• WATCH DUE DATE!!!! This will be due October 16th.
  Be prepared to hand it in and/or present it on
  this date!
• Take your time, but DO NOT leave this for the
  last minute. Do your research and try hard!
