In case of an emergency
  • The school will be locked down
  • Students will be sheltered in the appropriate
    location(s)
  • Parents are asked not to call the school

In school preparedness
  • Development of shelter/secure in place.
  • Developed in classroom disaster kits
  • Developed a plan of dismissing children in safe
    controlled manner ensuring safety and
    accountability.

Disaster Kits
  • Plastic bucket with screw lids.
  • Contains the following
  • water bottles
  • flashlight
  • whistle
  • food bars (peanut fee)

Dismissal Plans-Walkers
  • Have parents organize neighborhood pick up teams.
  • Parents would ensure that responsible adults are
    available to pick up children
  • Parents would contact childrens parents and
    inform that they are okay and where they are
    located
  • Walkers would be dismissed out the back of the
    school as normal

Dismal -Buses
  • Similar to walkers, parents are encouraged to
    develop list of parents that would be available
    to meet buses at the stops and be responsible for
    the Children until the parent can get home.
  • Buses will pick up at their regular location in
    the front of the school (unless directed
    differently)

Dismal-Car Pick-Ups
  • It is requested that parents picking up their
    children do so by way of Plymouth Drive.
  • Students would then be dismissed as walkers.
  • This will facilitate any movement of buses, or
    emergency response units to and around the school
    building.

What can Parents Do?
  • Develop your own emergency plan and disaster kits
    for home, work and car.
  • Review your emergency contact numbers, send
    updates to the school.
  • Create an emergency communications plan
  • include out-of town contacts, telephone numbers,
    e-mail addresses

What can Parents Do?
  • Contact person should live far enough away not be
    involved in the emergency
  • make sure every household member has contact name
    and contact information
  • e-mail, home, pager, cellular telephone number.
  • familys back up plan.

What can Parents Do?
  • Determine if your family will require any special
    considerations.
  • Unable to get home, due to type of employment
  • Doctor, Nurse, Police, Fire, Military, etc.
  • advise school as soon as possible with your
    familys back up plan

What Parents Should Not Do?
  • Call the school directly
  • Come to the school, without being contacted
  • Utilize the front driveway, unless directed
  • Attempt to pick your child up without the school
    being dismissed
