Title: My Favourite Aircraft

1
My Favourite Aircraft
  • Jordan Gray McSherry Tinlin

2
WHY DO I LIKE AIRCRAFT?
  • I chose to do my presentation on Airplanes
because I am a plane fanatic. Everyone says that
I know to much about planes, so I decided to out
    do myself this time.
  • Hope you enjoy the show!

3
Airbus A321
  • First Flew 11th March 1993.
  • Length 146ft 0in
  • Wingspan 111ft 10in
  • The A321 is a technological marvel being the
second aircraft in the world to be on a fly by
wire set. This means that instead of having many
gears and levers to operate the ailerons and
rudder. It uses electronic wires to do this. A
bit like power steering in a car.

4
Boeing 767-300
  • First Flew 17th February 1982
  • Length 180 3
  • Wingspan 156 1
  • The 767 has nothing marvellous about it, but it
was the first aircraft to have the double set
wheels (two wheels on each side of the wheel
bogie) to have a positive gradient from the left
side and a negative gradient from the right.
(Positive gradient, where the line goes
diagonally upwards from left to right and a
negative gradient is where the line slopes the
opposite way.) On most aircraft with sloping
wheels it is the other way round. Basically, the
first set of two wheels is nearer to the ground.

5
Airbus A340-500
  • First Flew 11 Feb 2002
  • Length 222ft 5in
  • Wingspan 208ft 11in
  • Capacity 312 passengers
  • Info The Airbus A340-500 is the longest range
aircraft in the world. With over 16,700km range
it can fly from Toronto, Canada to Hong Kong or
Dubai, U.A.E to Sydney, Australia non-stop.

6
Boeing 757
  • First Flew Feb 19 1982
  • Length 155ft 3in
  • Wingspan 124ft 10in
  • Passenger Capacity 180
  • The 757 is the worlds longest narrow body
aircraft. (Narrow body means, one aisle and one
set of seats on each side of the aisle. It is
Boeings last narrow body aircraft and has a
range greater that any other narrow body aircraft
in the world, Range 4,000 miles.

7
Boeing 777-300 (The Triple 7)
  • First Flew1994
  • Length 242 4
  • Wingspan 199 11
  • Capacity 224 to 410 (depending on the
    configuration)
  • The 777 is an amazing aircraft, with 6 wheels on
each bogie and a narrower tail than any other
wide body (two aisles in the plane and two sets
of seats on each side of the aisle)

8
Boeing 747-400
  • Length 231.1 ft
  • Wingspan 211 5
  • Capacity 495 - 1000
  • The 747 is something of a technological marvel.
It was the first wide body jetliner, aircraft
with two decks, plane with more than 10 wheels.
The 747 has 18, more than any other plane today
    as well as pre 1969.

9
Boeing 747 continued
  • In the Japanese domestic routes, they use the 747
100, -200, -300 and 400 to carry in excess of
900 passengers in an all economy configuration.
This is okay for short sectors, but would be hell
for long haul flights (London Heathrow to
    Sydney).

10
Boeing 767-400
  • Length 201 4
  • Wingspan 170 4
  • Capacity 245
  • The 767-400 is the longest member of the Boeing
767 family. With its Raked Wingtips and longer
    range, surprisingly, only Continental Airlines
and Delta Airlines, both USA, have bought it.
Although British Airways of the UK are possibly
    leasing one on short term.

11
Airbus A340-600
  • Length 247 0
  • Wingspan208 11
  • Capacity 320 - 450
  • The A340-600 is the longest air plane in the
world. It is longer than the 747 by over 5 meters
but doesnt have the range or capacity of the
    747. The A340-600 is used by many airlines,
including Virgin Atlantic (VA) and South African
    Airways (SAA).

12
Airbus A318
  • Length 103 2
  • Wingspan 111 10
  • Capacity 55- 120
  • The A318 is the shortest aircraft and is most
widely used in the USA, although Air France and
Finnair have ordered over 50 each, but Frontier
and Mexicana have mass ordered over 150.
