2Mission
- The operational focal point of the Office of
Collaborative Projects (OCP) is to create an
educational bridge between the Independent School
Districts and TSTC Harlingen whereby high school
students can take College-Level courses and/or
convert qualified secondary classes into college
credit. In addition, the OCP provides
educational opportunities for two-year
post-secondary students through upward
articulations.

8What is College Connections?
- Contract Training on site at TSTC
- Dual Enrollment for Dual Credit
- High tech post-secondary training.
- Courses that High School may not be able to offer
due to funding such as CDDT, MGT, AUT, AUB, NSA,
BOT, AER, CMT, DIT, EET, and WLT. - Juniors and seniors accumulate high school and
college credits through the program. - TSTC provides labs, classrooms, equipment,
instructors, books, and supplies.
9What is TECH PREP?
- A unique program that builds a scholastic
technical bridge from high schools to TSTC. - Tech Prep Students earn college credit through
- Articulated courses
- Tech Prep Students can also be participating in
- Dual Credit (concurrent enrollment)
- College Board Advanced Placement (AP)
- Tech Prep high school courses are matched up with
their equivalent and available TSTC courses and
given credit when the student has met the
requirements.
10TECH PREP requirements
- Student Requirements 80 or above on Tech Prep
high school course(s), enroll into TSTC within 15
months of high school graduation and complete 6
transferable hours of core TSTC courses before
claiming credit.
11What is Dual Enrollment (concurrent enrollment)?
- Dual Enrollment is identified under different
categories at TSTC, Dual Enrollment (EA), (SRS),
(RHT), (SYP), (DL) and (CC). - Juniors and seniors can earn high school and/or
college credits through these programs. - All programs are different from one another,
tuition and fees may apply to students and/or
parents.

- Open to any high school who would like to give
their students additional college options. - Open to any student who wants to go above and
beyond their standard High School requirements.

14Advantages of Dual Enrollment Programs
- Free for most High Schools
- Early college admission.
- Excellent stepping stone and experience base
- Exposure to college courses often taught on a
college campus. - Course grade of 3.0 or above counts as an
advanced measure for the Distinguished
Achievement Program. - College credit is awarded upon successful
completion of a course. - Saves a good amount of time and money for
students and parents.

- Admissions Clearance
- Complete TSTC Application
- Official High School Transcript
- Complete Individual Approval Form
- High School and/or Parent approval.
- Proof of Residency
- OCP Clearance
- Meet TAKS Requirements or THEA (TASP) minimum
exemptions requirements - Registration
- Students are subject to pay College Tuition
,Fees, and textbook expenses, if applicable. - Refer to current year table of tuition fees.

- Student Selection
- What is the minimum high school grade-level
required for student participation? - A student should be at least a high school
junior. - How are students selected?
- Students are recommended by their counselors at
their respective ISD. - Are courses taught at the high school up to par
with TSTCs standard? - Yes, a review of course content and instructors
qualification is conducted prior to any
accreditation. - College Connections
- How do we handle the difference between the ISD
and TSTCs calendar of events? - The OCP designs the calendar of events along with
the ISD to accommodate the institution. - Will the students grade be on their Official
TSTC college transcript? - Yes, the dual enrollment program is designed to
give students credit immediately upon
successfully completing a course. - How are grades recorded for College Connections?
- On a tri-weekly basis. Grades should be
forwarded to the OCP before 500 p.m. one day
prior to due date.

- Varies depending upon the individual program.
- Who pays for it?
- School/student or TSTC.
- Who pays for Books? Students or ISD. Do students
have to return their books? - Yes, books become property of the sponsoring
educational institution. Books need to be
returned to the original issuer. - Who pays for Supplies?
- Each individual program is responsible for
budgeting and allocating funds to conduct
instruction for students. - Attendance College Connections requires
recording of attendance. - Who is responsible for attendance?
- The Instructor is Attendance is forwarded to
the OCP Attendance hotline for recording.

- Absences should be referred to the OCP for
immediate action.

Admit - Health Science Technology (HST)
- Dual Enrollment (EA) Enrollment of a High
School student who wants to go above and beyond
his current High School participation level.
Students come to TSTC on their own time (after
school, Saturdays, or during Summer). Students
may have to pay tuition. - Dual Enrollment (SRS) High School Sponsored
course, offered on High School Campus by a
certified Post-Secondary instructor. - Dual Enrollment (RHC) Cohort group of 10
students or more interested in attending a
College course. Students may have to pay tuition.
- Summer Youth Program (SYP) City sponsored
scholarship funded by the parks and recreation
committee pays for one college level course for
Juniors, Seniors and incoming TSTC Freshmen.
Student may petition High School Credit at their
Local High School. High School credit not
Guaranteed.
