- Be prepared. (Study the site plan)
- Be aware for guided tours.
- Observe and document.
- Talk to people.
- Assess the site in full operation.
- Remember you are an expected visitor.
- Assess continuity.
- Share good practices.
- Wear the required PPE and follow the rules.

- Verify the condition of stairs and steps.

- Assess the waste handling.
- Verify the electrical equipment and wiring.

- Evacuation
- Think about the people 1st.
- Emergency exits must open at any time.
- You can request to test the alarm.
- Fire fighting
- Ensure that the correct material is available.
- Ensure that the material is tested and working.
- Evaluate that the right people are trained.
- Discuss the management plan in case of an
incident. - The first minutes in a fire fighting are vital.

- Keep the road clear. What will happen in
case of an emergency? - Observe sources of ignition.
- Is the electrical equipment suitable?
- Are tank connections clearly indicated?
- Evaluate the critical equipment. Remember this
equipment should work at ANY time! - Connection to earth and conductivity rules.
- Ensure spill control.

- Observe carefully the activities around the
discharge operation. - Special rules for heated

- Pipelines should be in good condition.
- Storage tanks deserve to be visited.
- Evaluate the critical equipment on tanks.
- Observe the tank farm fauna and flora.
- A pump must run as a sewing machine.
- Noise, smell and vibrations mean trouble!

- You should not be an athlete to go up the
loading gantry. - Do you feel safe?
- Take five and observe the loading operation.
- Connection to earth is of utmost importance.
- In case of ADR products are controls in place?
- Is PPE used all the time?

- A clean drumming area is a sign of safety and
quality. - Drumming hazardous products require special
attention. - Verify the labelling of drums.
- Ensure that the correct drum type is used.
- Disposal or re-use of empty drums?

- Blending products may involve risk.
- Special attention for hazardous products!
- Strict procedures to be applied for blending .
- Observe re bulking of bagged products.
- Verify that blended product is correctly
labelled.
12Packed product handling and storage
- A well organised warehouse is a prove of quality
and safety. - Observe the stored goods, signs of damage
indicate inadequate storage. - Evaluate the operations with forklifts.
- Are all goods identified and labelled?
- Are emergency exits clearly indicated? Try to
open an emergency exit! - Is the heating system adequate and allowed?
- Can spilled product easily be cleaned?
