What is the R-30 Language Census?
  • It is a census which each district in the state
    must complete each year.
  • It provides specific information which relates to
    English Learners and their instructional
    programs.
  • It provides information on the numbers of English
    Learners, the languages they speak, the services
    they receive and the teachers and instructional
    assistants with whom they work.
  • This information helps the state, the district
    and the school develop and provide appropriate
    services for their English Learners.

Writing of ELAC Minutes
School Plan Using a powerpoint presentation, Mr.
Alvarez explained the school plan, budgets, and
how the budget is being distributed. Mrs. Tran
asked if the school plan applies equally to all
students or if it is different for the special
needs classes. Mr. Alvarez explained the
process. Parent Advice or Suggestions for the
School Plan After his presentation, Mr. Alvarez
asked parents if they had suggestions or advice
for the school on their school plan. At this
time, parents began to offer suggestions 1.
Parents would like to see more audio books
purchased to support EL students. 2. Parents
would like a translated list of leveled books so
they can select books 3. ESL classes. Parents
would like an adult-ESL class at the school. 4.
There is a need for translators for non-English
speaking parents Plan Escolar Usando una
