1) WHO Appoints Pastors?
8
Eph 411-16 NIV11 It was he Jesus who gave
some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to
be evangelists,
andsome to be pastors and teachers,
9
Why Appointed?
12 to prepare God's peoplefor works of
service,so that the body of Christmay be built
up 13 until we all reach unity
10
Unity In What?
in the faith andin the knowledge ofthe Son of
Godand
become mature, attaining to the whole measureof
the fullness of Christ.
11
FOR WHAT RESULT?
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back
and forth by the waves, and blown here and there
byevery wind of teaching and by thecunning and
craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
12
15 Instead, speaking the truthin love, we will
in all things grow up into him who is the Head,
that is, Christ
16 From him the whole body, joined and held
together by every supporting ligament, grows and
builds itself up in love,as each part does its
work.

2)The Pastors PlaceIn The Plan
The Pastor is the Shepherdof alocal church body
16
Sheep
Sheep are curious but dumb animals, often
unable to find their way home even if the
sheepfold is within sight.
The shepherd never takes his eyes off his
wandering sheep (Ps 328).
17
Often sheep will wander into a briar patch or
fall over a cliff in the rugged Palestinian
hills.
The shepherd tenderly searches for his sheep and
carries it to safety on his shoulder, wrapped in
his own long cloak (Luke 156).
18
Sheep areDependent on the shepherd
gtfor leading them to water and
food
gtFor protection
19
They often wonder off on wrong roads
20
They go their own way andget lost
21
Concerned for the sheep

Servant to the owner of the sheep
They know them by name, and the sheep in turn
recognize the Shepherds voice.

said to Simon Peter,"Simon son of John, do
you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord,"
he said, "you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."
25
16 Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John,do you
truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you
know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care
of my sheep."
26
17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of
John, do you love me? " Peter was hurt because
Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love
me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things you
know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my
sheep.

2 Tim 41-541 In the presence of God and of
Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the
dead, and in view of his appearing and his
kingdom, I give you this charge
Charge
38
2 Preach the Word be prepared in season
and out of season
Charge
39
Vs 2 continuescorrect, rebuke and
encourage-with great patience and careful
instruction.
But there is the "Not So Pleasant" part of
ministry too!
Charge
40
3 For the time will come when men will not put
up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit
their own desires, they will gather around them
a great number of teachers to say what their
itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn
their ears away from the truth and turn aside
to myths.
Charge
41
5 But you, keep your head in all situations,
endure hardship, do the work of an
evangelist, discharge all the duties of your
ministry.

6) The Dutiesof a Pastor2 Tim
28-16,20-26,311-15
Duties
44
8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the
dead,descended from David.This is my gospel, 9
for which I am suffering even to the pointof
being chained like a criminal. But God's word is
not chained.
45
10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of
the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation
that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.
Duties
46
11 Here is a trustworthy saying If we died with
him, we will also live with him 12 if we
endure, we will also reign with him. If we
disown him, he will also disown us 13 if we
are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he
cannot disown himself.
Duties
47
14 Keep reminding themof these things.
Warn them before God against quarreling about
words it is of no value, and only ruins those
who listen.
Duties
48
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as
one approved, a workman who does not need to be
ashamed and who correctly handles the word of
truth.
Duties
49
16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who
indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
Duties
50
20 In a large house there are articles not only
of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay
some are for noble purposes and some for
ignoble (Ordinary) .
21 If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he
will be an instrument for noble purposes, made
holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any
good work.
Duties
51
22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue
righteousness, faith, love and peace, along
with thosewho call on the Lordout of a pure
heart.
Duties
52
23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and
stupid arguments, because you know they produce
quarrels.
24 And the Lord's servant must not quarrel
instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to
teach, not resentful.
Duties
53
25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct,
in the hope that God will grant them repentance
leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and
that they will come to their senses and escape
from the trap of the devil, who has taken them
captive to do his will.
Duties
54
2 Tim 311Yet the Lord rescued me from all of
them.12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a
godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13 while evil men and impostors will go from
bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
Role Model
55
14 But as for you, continue in what you have
learned and have become convinced of, because you
know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how
from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
