2The CFDA is committed to nurturing the
development of the American Fashion industrys
future designers. The CFDAs Educational
Initiatives provide support and resources for
designers at the high school, collegiate,
post-graduate, and early stages of their careers.
- CFDA / Teen Vogue Scholarship (for High School
Students) - CFDA Scholarship Program (for College Juniors)
- Target / CFDA Design Initiative (for College
Seniors) - CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund
- The Business of Fashion (panel discussions, in
partnership with GenArt)
3In 1986, the CFDA established an endowed
scholarship at Parsons School of Design in
memory of Perry Ellis. This scholarship is
awarded annually to a full-time junior or senior
fashion design student.

4SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION
GUIDELINES
Students are asked to submit a portfolio in
collection or story format, such as a seasonal
collection (i.e., fall/spring/summer/resort),
that contains 10-15 original design looks.
The presentations should concentrate on one
collection either men's, women's, accessory or
children's and can be augmented by special
interest ideas (i.e., activewear, intimate
apparel, beachwear).
The portfolio should reflect the student's design
ability and creativity, and include flats,
swatches and trims. Photography, collages, and
other visual materials may also be utilized to
convey ideas.
The portfolio submission should also include a
Student Application and a one-page essay,
explaining the portfolio and design concept.
