Goals of Breakout Sessions

• Create a dialogue among faculty with shared
  interests to identify issues and processes that
  will advance the research agenda of UTMB
• Serve as a stimulus to the creation of
  collaborative research interests groups that
  will advance translational research on the UTMB
  campus

Questions to be Addressed in the Breakout Sessions

• What process, environmental/cultural change, or
  infrastructure is needed to more effectively
  transfer research into interventional tools,
  patient population studies, and new standards of
  care? How could they best be implemented?

• What system, structure, or process is needed to
  facilitate basic and clinical scientists
  communication?
• How do we recruit, develop, retain, and reward
  effective translational researchers?
• What benchmarks will indicate success?

  research retreat questions
• Recorders will transcribe the discussion
• Flip charts available in each room
