• Optimizing pickup and delivery operations at a
  Saint John trucking terminal
• Done for one of the largest trucking companies in
  Atlantic Canada
• About 40 reduction in energy consumption with
  cost or distance minimization optimization

Second Case Study

• Optimizing a New Brunswick based trucking
  companys linehaul operations (one of the biggest
  trucking companies in Canada)
• Done for the companys North American Operations
• Canadian operations representing over 40
  terminals from the east coast to the west coast
• About 5 reduction in energy consumption with
  cost minimization optimization

Conclusions

• Significant energy savings can be realized if all
  transportation operations are optimized
  nationwide and it would have a major contribution
  to help meet the clean air and Kyoto protocol
  targets
• Win-win situation (save energy while being more
  cost efficient)
• All levels of government should play a proactive
  role to promote optimization for all kinds of
  transportation operations
