About me
  • I grew up in Shek Kip Mei
  • HKCEED, HKALE
  • Graduated from CUHK (Electronics Engineering)
  • From Kindergarten to PhD
  • Over 25 years of studying English
  • I am still not confident in English reading,
    listening, speaking and writing.

Until 1990!

About my son
  • He studied in a local primary school.
  • We didnt have a Filipino maid.
  • My wife and I didnt talk to him in English.
  • He hadnt attend any English oral classes.
  • In P5, he finished the whole Harry Potter series.
  • He didnt have foreign English accent.
  • In F2 , he wrote a story of over 10,000 words.
  • He got 5 in HKCEE English.

And

How?
  • I read English stories with him for half-an-hour
    every night, for about 2 years.
  • Starting with simple ones, then gradually moved
    up the levels.
  • I learnt with him reading strategies - how to
    read words, phrases, and sentences.
  • Most importantly - I discovered that Reading is
    the KEY to success in learning English.

A Secondary School
  • They launched program last September.
  • F.1 students said
  • English was the mostinteresting subject.
  • They were not afraidof reading English books
    any more.
