Would you be able to stand without bones?
  • You would not be able to stand upright, or walk.
You would just be a puddle of dirty water
    flopping around on the ground.
  • Bones also protect the body, such as your skull
protecting your brain. Your backbone provides a
structure so you are able to stand upright.
  • Even your ribs are protecting your organs such as
    your heart, and lungs.

How many bones do you have?
  • When born you have over 300 bones, but as you
grow some bones fuse together, where you only
    have 206 bones.
  • In a human hand there are 27 bones, while your
    skull has 14 bones.
  • The longest bone in your body is your thigh bone
(femur), and the smallest bone in your body is
the stirrup bone in your ear.

How do your bones move?
  • Your bones need LOTS of help from your muscles.
Your muscles are attached to your bones, which is
    key for body movement.
  • Joint are also important because they provide
flexible movement between your bones. You neck
has joints so you are able to turn your head.
Your shoulder has joints so you are able to move
    your arm 360 degrees.

CORRECT!!
  • Muscles help move your bones. When your muscles
contract, the bones your muscles attach to act as
a lever to move various parts of your body.
