Mission Statement

• To enhance the well being of older patients who
  suffer from diseases and conditions requiring
  treatment by specialists in surgical and related
  medical disciplines

Specific Goals

• Improve the amount and quality of post-graduate
  geriatrics education received by residents in
  targeted disciplines
• Identify and support specialty faculty in
  promoting geriatrics training and research within
  their own professional disciplines
• Assist certifying bodies and professional
  societies in improving the ability of their
  constituencies to care for elderly patients
• Enhance the knowledge and expertise of surgical
  and related medical specialists
• Develop measures of quality that help physicians
  in practice to improve the quality of the care
  that they provide to frail older adults
