• Examine current modeling simulation efforts in

• Discuss what role the Logistics Forum should play
  in the SBA initiative

• If appropriate, recommend actions to SISO

Logistics Community Needs to Influence SBA
Programs

• Explanation
• Although encouraging developments exist in the
  JSF program concerning logistics considerations,
  emphasis is still at the engineering and platform
  level.
• There is mutual interest in coordination between
  logistics organizations and SBA organizations.
• Recommendation
• Continue to request SBA in call for papers
• Pursue a joint session with a future acquisition
  track (if one is created)

WARSIM Must be Careful to Not Make Bad Logistics
Assumptions

• Explanation
• Briefing revealed some disconnects between WARSIM
  design and logistics user community
• Some faulty algorithms and unreliable data
  sources used, according to army logistics SMEs in
  audience
• Recommendation
• Army logistics user (CASCOM) and WARSIM
  proponent, NSC, must coordinate.
• WARSIM must pay attention to logistics
  considerations when expanding beyond forward
  battle area.

Medical Simulation Opportunities Exist in Both
Civil and Military Domains

• Explanation
• Much can be done to improve medical treatment and
  training through simulation.
• Handling of injured and sick personnel,
  especially in a war situation, is a serious
  logistics problem.
• Recommendation
• Include subject in call for papers.
• Participate in any future study group.

Interoperability of Commercial Process Models
Looks Promising for Logistics Modeling

• Explanation
• Supply chain models are of commercial interest.
• There are a number of DoD COTS-based products
  applicable for logistics models.
• Recommendation
• Include COTS process model integration into our
  call for papers.

A New Logistics Federation Under Development Has
Far-Reaching Potential Benefits

• Explanation
• A new federation, described in an invited
  presentation, will initially link 3 Army
  simulations, including warfighting and logistics
  simulations.
• Future federations may expand to transportation
  and mobility models.
• Recommendation
• Ask for a paper to be published.
