Lane Change Leaning the hand controller left or
right will respectively trigger the tilt sensors
within the controller.
Overtaking Pressing a button on the hand
controller will activate the simulated boost to
instantly increase the speed of the slot car by a
certain amount.
Speed Control Human speed control is achieved by
an analogue voltage level tapped off from a
variable resistor within the hand controller.
Communications Controller Takes the above
inputs and outputs a Pulse Position Modulation
communications protocol onto the slot car track.

Slot Car Receiver circuitry within the slot car
decodes the pulses and outputs following actions.
Outputs
Slot Car Boost When activated, the boost
increases the motors PWM signal by a 25 duty
cycle hence increasing the speed of the slot car.
Slot Car Speed The speed of the slot car DC motor
is controlled by a PWM signal limited to a duty
cycle of 75.
Slot Car Lane Change Infrared receivers in the
track prompt the electromagnets at a crossover
section to pull the slot car left of right.
