  • E.g. They make something from something else
  • Many industrial organisations make goods from

  • E.g. Car manufactures, household appliance

  • Prime Function To provide services and goods
    from public funds
  • Profit is not always an aim
  • Main aim is to obtain maximum benefits for the
    public so must keep costs down
  • All types of organisations have turned to ICT to
    help efficiency

  • Within most organisations, there will be staff
    who are responsible for carrying out particular
    tasks
  • These task and responsibilities are know as job
    functions
  • In small organisations one person may be
    responsible for more than one job function
  • Large organisations will have a department for
    each function
  • A department is a group of people performing a
    particular job under the direction of a
    department manager
