The word HOLY

• Holy is from the Greek word hagios
• The root meaning is different, separate
• Temple holy separate from other buildings
• Sabbath holy separate from other days
• Christian holy separate from the world
• We are called to be a holy people

Perfect Pattern

• 1 Peter 116 - because it is written, Be holy,
  for I am holy.
• All religions are imitations
• Heathenism creates gods after its corrupt mind
  and thinking
• Heathenism imitates God
• Lets go back to the REAL GOD Jehovah.

Holy in Living

• 1 Peter 115 - but as He who called you is holy,
  you also be holy in all your conduct,
• KJV conversation life style, manner of living
• We must be holy in every part of our lives not
  just on Sunday morning

• WORLD lust, disobedience, evil, sin
• We must be transformed - Romans 122 - And do not
  be conformed to this world, but be transformed by
  the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
  what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
  of God.
• We must be unspotted James 127 - Pure and
  undefiled religion before God and the Father is
  this to visit orphans and widows in their
  trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the
  world.

• WORLD lust, disobedience, evil, sin
• We must refrain from friendship with the world
  James 44 - Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you
  not know that friendship with the world is enmity
  with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend
  of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

• Marriage Our marriages must be different
• Christians hold marriages as sacred
• Be faithful to your spouse
• Honor your vow and promise
• Business Be different from the world
• Honest Romans 1217 - Have regard for good
  things in the sight of all men.
• Industrious 2 Thessalonians 310 - For even
  when we were with you, we commanded you this If
  anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

• Recreation Enjoy life on a higher plane
• Put the kingdom of God FIRST Matthew 633 - But
  seek first the kingdom of God and His
  righteousness, and all these things shall be
  added to you.
• Let others see your light Matthew 514, 16 -
  14You are the light of the world. A city that is
  set on a hill cannot be hidden. 16Let your light
  so shine before men, that they may see your good
  works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Motivated to be Holy

• Anticipate the Lords Return
• Christ is coming He promised
• We are told to watch be alert and ready
• 2 Peter 310-11 - 10But the day of the Lord will
  come as a thief in the night, in which the
  heavens will pass away with a great noise, and
  the elements will melt with fervent heat both
  the earth and the works that are in it will be
  burned up. 11Therefore, since all these things
  will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought
  you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

Motivated to be Holy

• Know that we will stand in Judgment
• We will give an account 2 Corinthians 510 -
  For we must all appear before the judgment seat
  of Christ, that each one may receive the things
  done in the body, according to what he has done,
  whether good or bad.
• All will be judged Acts 1731 - because He has
  appointed a day on which He will judge the world
  in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.
  He has given assurance of this to all by raising
  Him from the dead.

Motivated to be Holy

• Gratitude for the death of Christ
• Jesus died so we could be different Titus 214
  - who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem
  us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself
  His own special people, zealous for good works.
• Communion should remind us that we are different
  1 Corinthians 1126 - For as often as you eat
  this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the
  Lords death till He comes.
