1Biomes Presentation
2What are Biomes?
A biome is a large ecosystem where plants,
animals, insects, and people live in a certain
type of climate.
3Types of Biomes
- Arctic Tundra
- Coniferous Forest
- Deciduous Forest
- Desert
- Grassland
- Tropical Rainforest
4Arctic Tundra
- Freezing!
- -30 Celsius
- There are not many plants in the tundra
- Polar bears hibernate for 5 months!
5Arctic Tundra Unique Facts
Frozen prehistoric creatures have been found in
the Permafrost. Its the coldest biome in the
world.
6Coniferous Forest
- Cold
- The plants there are well adapted to the cold
climate. - Its just under the Arctic Tundra
7Coniferous Forest
The soil is not very fertile. The Coniferous
Forest stretches across the top of North America
and Eurasia.
8Deciduous Forest
- Mild Temperature
- They are mostly in eastern North America, Europe,
and eastern Asia. - The soil is very fertile
9Deciduous Forest Unique Facts
In Europe the soil is so good that they get rid
of the tree to make farms and houses.
10Desert
- Its always either really hot or really cold
- 1-15 inches of rain per year
- Only cactuses live there

called Prairies. In Africa they are called
Veld. In South America they are called
Savannas. In Eurasia they are called Steppes.

15Tropical Rainforest Unique Facts
It gets up to 160 inches of rain per year! It
has over 15 million types of plants. There are
many other types of rain forests such as dry
rainforests, temperature rainforests, and much
more.
