7Process
- Facilitator selected to mediate and organize.
- Threads started for mission, vision, values, and
goals. - Three days for electronic brainstorming, no
criticism allowed. - Ideas from lectures, reading, etc., incorporated
into discussions. - At the end of third day, group chat held, areas
to be finalized were identified and divided among
group members. - Following evening drafts were posted for review
and compiling. - Facilitator compiled the, mission statement and
presented final version for review.
8Face-to-Face vs. Electronic Brainstorming
- ADVANTAGES
- Improved cost and time savings
- Better documentation
- Higher volume of Ideas (no production blocking)
- Anonymity (except for names)
- DISADVANTAGES
- Live Discussions difficult through WebCT
discussion board - Energy found in earlier face-to-face sessions not
present - Forums that better facilitate live discussions
(i.e. chat rooms) may enhance interaction. - Technology obstacles (slow connection speeds,
wireless dead spots, etc.)
