Title: Year 11 Parent Information Evening

1
Sacred Heart College
  • Year 11 Parent Information Evening

2
Reflection
  • PARENTS AND TEACHERS WORKING TOGETHER
  • I dreamed I stood in a studio
  • And watched two sculptors there,
  • The clay they used was a young childs mind
  • And they fashioned it with care.
  • Once was a teacher the tools being used
  • Were books and music and art,
  • Once a parent with a guiding hand
  • And a gentle, loving heart.
  • Day after day the teacher toiled

3
Reflection
  • With touch that was deft and sure,
  • While the parent labored just as hard
  • And polished and smoothed oer.
  • When at last their task was done
  • They were proud of what they had wrought,
  • For the things they had molded into the child
  • Could neither be sold nor bought.
  • And both agreed they would have failed
  • If they had worked alone
  • For behind the parents stood the school and
    behind the teacher, the home.
  • From A Canopy of Stars Some Reflections for the
Journey by Fr Christopher Gleeson SJ (David
    Lovell Publishing 2003)

4
Prayer
  • Let us pray together
  • In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
    Spirit
  • God our Father,
  • We ask you to guide us in our thinking and
  • in our planning. Help us to be conscious of the
richness of our past and the endeavours of the
present as well as our concerns for the future.
And while we bring our best efforts to bear on
the tasks we have before us, let us ever be
mindful that while we sow, nurture and perhaps
reap, it is you who give all to us.

5
Prayer
  • We place our work before you as parents, students
    or teachers as we say..
  • Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in
    you.
  • In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
    Spirit. Amen
