Brief Bio
  • Michael Mott is an Assistant Professor of
    Literacy/Early Childhood Education at Purdue
    University Calumet. Prior to working at Purdue,
    Michael taught elementary school for ten years
    ESL classrooms for Grades 1, 2 and mixed-age
    groupings in the New York City Public Schools in
    the East Harlem section of Manhattan K-3
    Language Arts Specialist at the Lowell School in
    Washington, DC and K-8 as an Art/Woodworking
    Teacher at the Village Community School in New
    York City.
  • Currently Michael teaches courses in Literacy
    Methods and Foundations of Educations and
    conducts research on literacy learning and
    technology and literacy integration and serves as
    a consultant to several school districts in the
    Chicago area and to the Illinois State Board of
    Education.

  • Cyndi Etsler has served as a faculty member of
    the School of Education at Purdue University
    Calumet for the past 8 years. Prior to coming to
    Purdue, Cyndis teaching experience included
  • 20 years teaching experience in all grades K-5
  • 1 year teaching experience grade 8
  • Whole Language Program developer and trainer,
    Manassas City Schools, Manassas, Virginia
  • Gifted Program Cluster Teacher, Grades 1 and 2,
    Columbia Schools, Brooklyn, Michigan
  • Reading Specialist, Monroe Public Schools,
    Monroe, Michigan
  • Currently, Cyndi teaches courses in Science
    Methods and Literacy Methods, conducts research
    on literacy learning and technology, and consults
    with area schools in the field of inquiry
    science.
