Information
  • The Taiga Biome is very hard to survive in the
    winter and food shortages are popular for all
    animals.
  • The Taiga Biome is the largest in the world.
  • Taiga means forest in the Russian language.

Animals
  • Some animals fly south for the winter and some
    stick it out.
  • A few of the animals are the Canadian lynx, the
    Gray wolf, the Grizzly bear, and the Snowshoe
    rabbit

Canadian Lynx
  • The Canadian lynx is not a common animal.
  • And it is almost identical to the common house
    cat but is larger.

Snowshoe Rabbit
  • The Snowshoe rabbit is larger than the common
    rabbit.
  • Its name comes from its snowshoe like back feet.

Grizzly Bear
  • The Grizzly bear is a very large omnivore who can
    run up to 35mph.
  • The Grizzly is very common to the Brown bear but
    has a larger shoulder hump and has a shine to its
    fur.

Gray Wolves
  • The gray wolves travel in packs through the
    winter but separate as summer comes.
  • They can survive in many biomes as long has food
    is plentiful.

Plants
  • Many of the plants are conifers, plants which
    produce seeds inside a cone.
  • The diversity of plants arent great in this
    biome but the richness is.

Balsam Fir
  • The Balsam fir can be found in many biomes
    including the Taiga.
  • You can find the Balsam fir in North,
    Northeastern America.

Jack Pine
  • The Jack pine can grow up to be over 27 meters
    tall.
  • The bark of this tree is reddish-brown and very
    flat.

Paper Birch
  • The bark of this tree is also flat and tears like
    paper.
  • These trees usually grow in groups or clusters.

Siberian Spruce
  • The Spruce can grow up to 30 meters but is
    slender.
  • They have branches that slightly droop so it
    looks slightly like a pyramid.

Climate
  • The Taiga biome gets in between 12 and 33 in of
    rainfall a year.
  • The temperature ranges from 65 to 30 degrees in
    the winter and 20 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the
    summer.
  • Some winters it will stay below zero for over 6
    months.
