• Week 11

CL lab final project

• You and a partner will fit each other with
  contact lenses.
• During this project you will use all of the
  skills you have learned thus far in this program.
• You will interview, examine, trial fit, verify,
  and modify and educate as you would with an
  actual patient.
• You will have 4 labs total to work on this. If
  you or your partner are absent from lab, there is
  no make up time. The final 4th lab is for
  presentations.
• Oral presentations are due on the last lab day.

• Grading
• This project is 50 of you lab grade.
• The remaining 50 is based on attendance and
  participation.
• Make good use of you lab time and do not miss a
  lab during this time, it will effect your partner.

• Accuracy of your skills
• History taking and patient interview
• Visual acuity
• Refractometry
• Keratometry
• Slit lamp examination ( verification )
• Over refraction
• Modifications made, final fit outcome

• Expectations
• I am aware we do not have a full set of trial
  lenses.
• If you need a specific lens, and we do not have
  it, use the next closest lens we have available.
  Make notes on your exam sheet for what you should
  fit and what we had.
• Only use one actual CL, but get measurements for
  both eyes.
• I will not lower my grade because we do not have
  the correct lens, however, I will lower my grade
  if the notes are inaccurate and the lens used
  does not fit the gathered information.

• Presentation
• You and your partner will explain, orally the
  exam, fit, verification, modification, and final
  outcome.
• I prefer you speak in front of the class for
  several reasons.
• This will help familiarize you with ophthalmic
  vocabulary.
• This with help with general public speaking. You
  need to be accurate, precise and confident when
  speaking with patients and doctors.
• This is a lab project, by everyone presenting, my
  hope is all students will learn something from
  each classmates project.
