24 Provideam Data Capture
- Sometimes it is not possible to communicate
directly with a machine. - E.g.
- Manual Machine
- Old Machine
- Machine where comms would be too expensive
- In this situation Provideam recommend using the
ProvDAQ which allows the user to monitor
electrical signals on the machine to determine
the state of the machine. - If the machine stops and the reason for the stop
cannot be determined from these signals it is
possible for the operator to indicate a reason
via the illuminated pushbuttons. (For example if
the machine is stopped because the material
quality is poor.)
25 Advanced ProvDAQ
- The Advanced ProvDAQ is a more sophisticated
alternative. - During normal running the HMI screen is green.
- When the Machine Stops the screen colour changes
to red. - If the stop reason is not known, then Not
Logged is displayed as the stop reason. - The operator can then enter a reason by selecting
the appropriate reason on the HMI
26 Advanced Integration
- Even with machines which are highly automated it
is sometimes necessary to allow for some manual
stop reason assignment. - For example if the machine is stopped for a
planned reason, such as Operator Training. - This can be facilitated in several ways.
- Pushbuttons at machine such as ProvDAQ
- MMI at machine for example Advanced ProvDAQ
- SCADA at machine eg modify existing SCADA at
machine. - It is best to choose a method which suits best
the individual machine and its environment
rather then using one blanket approach.
