CHARACTERS

  • A series of related episodes or events that make
    up a story
  • Creates suspense a feeling of anxious
    curiosity/want to know what will happen next

CONFLICT
  • A struggle between opposing characters
  • TWO TYPES OF CONFLICT
  • INTERNAL
  • EXTERNAL

INTERNAL CONFLICT
  • A struggle between opposing desires or emotions
    in a characters mind.
  • Does the character cheat to get a good grade vs.
    risk of losing teachers respect if caught.

EXTERNAL CONFLICT
  • A struggle between a character and some outside
    force
  • Character vs. another character
  • Character vs. society/group
  • Character vs. nature (sailor vs. storm)

  • IT IS THE CONFLICT THAT CREATES THE SUSPENSE OF
    THE PLOT!!!
