Title: THE COURAGE OF JESUS

1
THE COURAGE OF JESUS
  • The disciples said to Him, Rabbi, the Jews were
just now seeking to stone You, and are You going
there again? Jesus answered, Are there not
twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the
day, he does not stumble, because he sees the
light of this world. (Jn. 118-8)

2
The Life He Lived
  • The ideal man in a wicked world.
  • He conformed to the customs of the day as they
    fit into His divine work.
  • He ran contrary to the customs when duty to God
    demanded it.
  • What an example for us.
  • Are we drifting, or standing with courage?

3
Courage Among His Friends
  • John 1513-14
  • Courage among friends is more than telling them
    that they are wrong.
  • He raised them to a higher level Matt. 630
    1512.
  • Mild correction, but unmistakable Luke 1038ff
    John 1123.
  • Jesus always stood for the right. He chose Gods
Way. He encouraged courage. Fear not.

4
His Courage Among His Enemies
  • This is a different type of courage. Easier in
    some ways.
  • The knowledge ultimately, evil will lose.
  • He met hostility John 223-25.
  • He faced Satan Matt. 41ff.
  • He faced Jewish authorities John 184-8.
  • He faced the Cross Luke 951
  • When a work must be accomplished, How much will
it cost? isnt a good question.

5
His Courage Among False Teachers
  • And true teachers who lived falsely.
  • He never hesitated or retreated.
  • Hypocrisy Matt. 23
  • False use of religion Matt. 2112.
  • Evil intent John 846 (Note v. 14-15 for
    bluntness).
  • Peter and John learned boldness Acts 412-13.
  • It took courage to be The Christ also to be a
    Christian.
