The Seasonal Depressions

• Definition
• The seasonal depression (Fall and Spring) is a
  neuro-psycho-physiological disorder due to an
  hypersen-sibility of the brain to the terrestrial
  magnetic field variations which influence the
  neurotransmitters of the brain and the HPAS axis.

• Some symptoms
• A state of chronic fatigue.
• Feeling spleepy during the day.
• Irritability or sadness.
• A lack of interest and initiative.
• A decline of the libido.
• An optimization of the specific symptoms related
  to the physio-pathological state of the person.

Our results

• Since 1980
• Studying the L-DOPA effects, a drug used in the
  treatment of the Parkinsons disease, in various
  brain structures in monkey and cat, we have
  observed that
• Various neuro-physiological behaviours
  particularly at Spring and Fall time, in treated
  animals
• Such behaviours corresponded to secondary effects
  observed in parkinsonian patients at the same
  periods
• These observed variations within the brain
  corresponded to the recordings of the
  terrestrial magnetic fields at the Ottawas
  Observatory, on an yearly basis.

• Therefore, we have initiated a battery of
  experiences, on an yearly basis, to understand
  the seasonal effects, in cat and rat
• a) on the neurotransmitters content
  such as
  
  serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline etc., in
  different brain structures (motor system, limbic
  system, etc.)

• b) on the neutral amino acids content,
  precursors of the neurotransmitters
• c) on the neurochemical stress parameters, in
  rat and cat
• d) on various blood clinical parameters, in rat
• e) on dopamine-ß-hydroxylase enzyme activity
  today SymPath - our blood bioindicator of SNS
• - in different species with and without
  stressfull situations
• - in human being.

• Since 1980 nextand end
• In conclusion,
• The animal kingdom is influenced by the
  terrestrial magnetic fields as the birds
  migration, the rivers ascent by salmons, etc
• The terrestrial magnetic fields influences also
  but differently the behaviours of human beings,
  at the neurobio-psycho-physiological and hormonal
  levels.
• In their behaviours, the human beings could
  observe a poten-tialization of their specific
  symptomatology related to their
  physio-pathological states as well as an
  increased side effects of drugs which are due to
  an hypersensibility of the brain, during Fall and
  Spring.

  particularly the nutrition of the brain to
  respond to its needs.
