• Bow or Burn?

What Happens

• Nebuchadnezzar sets up a golden idol (v1)
• He requires everyone to bow down and worship it
  (v4,5)
• The punishment for not doing so was to be thrown
  into the fiery furnace (v6)
• Certain Chaldeans brought charges against
  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego that they would
  not worship the idol (v8-9)
• When confronted, these young, godly men would not
  bow down to the statue (v16-18)

What happens

• Because of their disobedience, the young men were
  thrown into the fiery furnace (v21)
• They were miraculously delivered (v26)
• Seeing this, Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged God, set
  up rules against blasphemy against Him, and gave
  favor to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (v28-29)

Bow or burn?

• If you had been in Shadrach, Meshach, or
  Abednegos shoes, would you have ended up in the
  fiery furnace?
• What about your friends, would they have made the
  same choice?
• Why do you think that these young men didnt have
  to ponder on this decision?
• These all are a matter of conviction.

• Do not misuse the Lords name
• Remember the Sabbath
• Honor your father and your mother

What do these scriptures say about idolatry?

• Those that practice idolatry and sinful behavior
  will NOT inherit the kingdom of God

• Our impurity is idolatry.
• We must rid ourselves of it.

• There is certain punishment for idolatry.

How do we face opposition?

• Based on Daniel 316-18, the young men knew that
  the Lord could deliver them.
• But even if He does not
• We also know that God is able to deliver us, but
  do not know if He will
• How do we face these trials, and oppositions?

• We are promised a crown of life
• Revelation 210-11
• Be faithful until death
• Romans 831-39
• Nothing can separate us from the love of God
• 1 Corinthians 1013
• God will not let us be tempted beyond what we can
  bare
