THE STEP SYSTEM
  • The step system is the BRMS behavior and reward
    system.
  • Each grade has its own specific expectations so
    for 6th grade

6th Grade Expectations
  • Be Prompt
  • Be Prepared
  • Be Respectful
  • Be On-Task
  • Be Safe

STEP Incentives
This is the good news!
  • Each Friday -
  • students will be allowed to go outside
  • IF they have completed turned in ALL classwork
    homework assignments.
  • Each 9 weeks-
  • students who have NO MORE THAN 2 steps in each
    academic class and have received NO referrals
    will be able to attend a themed activity like
    MUMMY MANIA!
  • Each 9 weeks-
  • A honor roll and A/B honor roll students will
    receive special recognition.

  • If you receive a step
  • Step One Verbal warning
  • Step Two Parent contact
  • Step Three Written assignment
  • (signed by parent)
  • Step Four Conference
  • Step Five Referral

Step accumulation starts again second semester

Just to clarify...

6th Grade Teachers will give steps for any of the
following behaviors
  • ?DISRUPTIVE/OFF TASK BEHAVIOR
  • anything that distracts from learning
  • (popping gum, humming, tapping, parading to
    sharpen pencils, walking in front of teacher
    during instruction, not having materials, drawing
    attention to yourself, passing notes)
  • ?INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS PROFANITY
  • (Includes comments intended to make fun of
    others)
  • ? EXCESSIVE TALKING
  • (talking during instruction, talking during
    assignment)
  • ?TARDY to CLASS
  • ?Violations of SAFETY CONTRACT

  • DISRESPECTIVE to students or teachers
  • may be spoken or unspoken
  • TARDY to class
  • HORSEPLAY (referral)
  • (touching, tripping, teasing, bothering others,
    throwing things, chasing, jumping on backs, etc.)
  • Dress Code violation, Phone not in locker are all
    automatic referrals.
