  • 1230 AM
  • All positions riding up, 10 years experience.
  • Dispatched Engine and Med Unit.
  • Dispatch reports officer found notes posted on
    vehicle windows.

Incident Background
  • Incident located in a park. Vehicle was found by
    PD. As the PD officer approached the vehicle he
    noticed a rotten egg smell (pungent odor) and
    read the posted signs signaling responders to be
    aware of chemicals.
  • PD can see patient slumped against window.
  • Attempted to open the door however, officer
    backed away after encountering the notes.

Man on Fire
  • All positions riding up, 10 years experience.
  • Dispatched to the report of woods fire between
    Walmart and Apartment Complex.
  • Knowing the terrain, the woods area sits above
    the Walmart roof. However, unsure of distance
    between buildings or potential fire load.

Incident Background
  • Dispatch advises that a man is on fire running
    through the woods.
  • Engine and Med Unit (Out of Station) dispatched.
  • Upon arrival units find approximately 1 acre
    involved, mostly pinestraw and underbrush. Light
    wind 5-10 mph. One patient is found lying supine
    on the ground screaming with 20 or so people
    standing around.

    develop a story line, and set parameters.

  • You have three minutes to read the scenario and
    answer the questions.
  • Your engine and ambulance are dispatched to a
    hazardous materials incident with a possible
    fatality. PD is onscene and walked into a pungent
    odor. They also advise that there is a note with
    the following Hydrogen Sulfide one breath will
    kill you. You are the seat rider with a two year
    relief driver and rookie firefighter.
