2INTRODUCTION
OBJECTIVES
SCHEDULE
Limolus Amoebocytic Lysate Test (LAL Test) is a
premier method to detect the lipopolysaccharides
(LPS) called endotoxins in Gram negative
bacterial cell wall and has a wide spread
industrial application, especially in
pharmaceutical industry. High concentration of
lipopolysaccharides in pharmaceutical
preparations like antibiotics etc may have severe
health problems such as pyrogenecity, change in
blood composition and shock. Different techniques
have been developed to detect the presence of
endotoxins in the pharmaceutical preparations,
however LAL test is considered as the most
authentic and most commonly used technique for
this purpose.
