Survey
The University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point GEM

conducting a national survey on environmental
science curriculum that incorporates indigenous
(Native American) knowledge in the K-12 schools.
We are looking for the best examples of such
curriculum to highlight at a conference to be
held in May, 2011. Since much curriculum is
developed at the school district level, we are
seeking your help in identifying examples for us.
If you click on the survey link below, it will
take you to the online survey. This survey is
very short and should take only 2-3 minutes to
complete. Survey Link http//www.surveymonkey.co

52Title IV A Safe and Drug-free School and
Communities
- The Georgia Student Health Survey II (GSHS II) is
an anonymous, statewide survey instrument
developed by the GaDOE to assist schools in the
identification of safety and health issues that
have a negative impact on student achievement. - The survey covers various topics such as school
climate and safety, school dropouts, alcohol and
drug use, bullying, harassment, suicide,
nutrition, sedentary behaviors, and teen driving
laws. - The GSHS II is offered at no cost and provides
Georgia public school districts (and private
schools that wish to participate) with a
measurement system to satisfy all requirements of
No Child Left Behind (NCLB) which specifies that
data must be collected for the following
categories incidence, prevalence, age of onset,
perception of health risks, and perception of
social disapproval of drug use and violence. - The survey has been expanded this year to include
all high school grades (9-12). This expansion
will improve the chances for Georgia schools to
receive discretionary grant funding. Please make
plans to participate in the survey this year.
The 2010-2011 survey will be available online
from October 1, 2010 through November 30, 2010
for use in your school district. - Copies of the middle and high school survey and
parent permission forms are available on the
GaDOE Safe and Drug-Free Schools webpage at
http//www.gadoe.org/sia_titleiv.aspx under
Title IV Resources. - Marilyn Watson (mawatson_at_doe.k12.ga.us)
