Facts about Amelia
  • Amelia Mary Earhart was born July 24,1897.
  • She was named after her Grandma, Amelia Otis and
    Mary Earhart.
  • Her parents names were Edwin Earhart and Amy
    Earhart.
  • On July 3,1937, Amelia disappeared

Introduction
  • I chose Amelia Earhart because when I think of
Amelia Earhart I think of her great mystery that
not even scientist know what happened to her.
Later on I will show you more about this mystery.
She was a great pilot that tried to go around the
world. This is why I chose Amelia Earhart.

Childhood (Birth-11)
  • Amelia childhood was hard sometimes because her
dad got an interest in drugs. Sometimes he would
    take it on Amelia.
  • Amelias life could never stay in one place for
too long. Every 4 years, the most, they would
    move from there home.
  • When a stranger came up to her and said Hi,
Im from your home town She would have to say
    Which one?
  • Amelia was a high, spirited girl. As she became
a little bit older, she got interested in
boyish activities. She began to play soccer and
football. When she lived in her
  • grandmothers house, she would jump over the
fence! Only if her grandmother wasnt looking.
Once her mother made a home made rollercoaster
and Amelia went on it and rode on it.
  • When Amelia was 3 years old, a new family member
was born, Muriel. As also Muriel grew, she grew
closer to Amelia and also became interested in
    activities that mostly boys played.
  • One Christmas day, she got a boy-sled. If it
werent for that, Amelia would have gotten
    pummeled to the ground.

Adolescence (12-18)
When Amelia was in highschool, she didnt even go
to her own graduation!
The caption that accompanied her senior
photograph read The girl in brown who walks
alone. As she moved ,she went to a school
called Ogontz. She started to develop more
interest in school work. She met new friends, got
good grades and she was so thankful, she got
voted class president. She still continued to
play mostly boy activities but, now we dont
really say that some sports are for guys and
some for girls. She played soccer, and
basketball. She was also voted secretary of the
schools chapter of the Red Cross when she was 18.

Adulthood (18)
Amelia Earhart didnt know she was going to be
the next big thing. She remembered when she went
to her firs air show. When she got older and
more interested in air planes, she hit the
record for highest plane ever flown by a woman.
She flew over 14,000 feet. Later, on in the year
she wanted to fly around the world, she wanted to
be the first woman to go around the world.
Sadly, as she left Lae, New Guinea she
mysteriously disappeared without a single
trace. Her death was declared on January 1,
1938.

Most Interesting Part
The most interesting part of the book I read was
on one of the last pages. I saw two wooden, thick
sticks with words carved into them. All I could
read was To my husband, I have crashed 250
mlls. From Hawaii N.W. our motor.into
flames. Sharks are about..Mrs. A.E. When I
read this I automatically started to make out the
words but, I couldnt they were to blurred out.
In the book it said scientist found the wood on
the shoreline of Alaska. Scientists still dont
know when or where the scene took place. Some say
Japanese people took her as a slave due to War,
other people say she was a spy, other scientist
believe that her resources of coming back like
radio frequency, or map disorder may have caused
her to fail her route of destination.

Franklin Roosevelt
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Born Hyde Park, NY
January 30, 1882 Years they were president March
4, 1933 until his death on April 12, 1945

Three Questions
  • .Why do you want to fly around the world?
  • If you were still here how did you disappear?
  • If you came back and they gave you money for
setting a record what would you do with that
    money?

My Favorite Story
One wintery day, Amelia was heading towards the
bottom of a hill on her sled when a horse and
cart turned over the corner headed right across
her path. There was no time to turn and the
driver didnt see her in time to stop. Amazingly,
Amelia and her sled slipped under the horse to
the other side unhurt or undamaged. This makes
me think wow she actually lived that accident!!
