Title: Go to the Ant

1
Go to the Ant
You Sluggard
2
Introduction
  • God wants us to learn not only from His vast
universe but also from His tiniest creatures.
    (Pr. 3024-25)
  • God uses the ant to teach the sluggard (66).
  • We need this because we are being trained to
think that the world owes us a living today.
  • In this lesson we will examine the
characteristics of the sluggard the ant.
  • Let us all examine our lives by the Scriptures.

3
Characteristics of the Sluggard
  • Sluggish (he is hinged to his bed)
    (Pr. 69-10 2433 1915
    2614 2013)
  • Lethargic (he doesnt exert energy and thinks he
is wiser than others) (Pr. 2615-16)
  • Unmotivated (makes excuses all the time)
    (Pr. 2613 2213 2915)
  • Goofs Off (He procrastinates, neglects
responsibilities, causes pain to others has to
    beg) (Pr. 2430-34 1026 189 204)

4
Characteristics of the Ants
  • Active (doesnt need a judge, officer, or ruler
to tell it what to do, but prepares food in the
    summer) (Pr. 66-8a 3024-25)
  • Never Quit (without pay, promotion, rewards, they
    continue doing their work)
    (Pr. 66 104 134).
  • Teamwork (they work together in unity)
    (Pr. 66)
  • Stores up the provision for the harvest
    (Pr. 68b)

5
We Must Learn Wisdom from the Ant
  • We must be active and not sluggish in the work of
    the Lord (2 Thess. 310 Heb. 511-14 612).
  • We must never quit and not be lethargic even if
we never get credit for our good works.
    (Gal. 67-10 1 Cor. 1558 Matt.
    516)
  • We must use teamwork (cooperate for the gospel)
and not make excuses why we cant work.
    (Luke 1416ff Eph. 411-16 Phil.
    127)
  • We must store up for ourselves treasures in
heaven rather than goof off and lose our souls.
    (Pr. 105 1 Tim. 58 Matt.
    619-21 713-14)

Conclusion
  • Are you like the sluggard or the ant?
  • Are you active in the Lords service or sluggish?
  • Are you persevering in good works or are you
    growing weary in well doing?
  • Are you cooperating by working with brethren as a
member of the team or are you sitting on the
    sidelines making excuses?
  • Are you storing up treasures in heaven or are you
neglecting your responsibility like the one
    talent man? (Matt. 2524ff)
