Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Goddards Office of Human Capital Management
    (OHCM) supports employees and supervisors in
    developing an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
  • The key to successful IDP planning is developing
    and committing to manageable and measurable goals
    to build employee competencies and skills.
  • The IDP coincides with the performance
    management appraisal period, although it is not a
    factor in the performance review.

What Is an Individual Development Plan (IDP)?
  • An IDP is a collection of goals, objectives, and
    activities for a specific employee.
  • It is developed collaboratively between the
    employee and the supervisor.
  • The IDP reflects the development needs for the
    employees current position and future
    development needs.
  • It identifies training and other developmental
    experiences needed to achieve both personal and
    Agency goals within a specific timeframe.
  • The IDP is a great tool for developmental
    conversations with employees during the
    performance planning discussion.

  • Manages the information within the Agencys
    learning management system
  • Provides electronic record for both the
    supervisor and the employee
  • Provides the supervisor with ability to give
    feedback on and grant approval for the IDP in
    SATERN
