2Agenda
- Migration process
- Current migration status
- Some customer examples
- Resources
- Why move?
3Migration Process Overview
Moving from EAE to Agile Business Suite
- Review the AB Suite Migration Guide
- Develop a migration plan
- Review and upgrade developer workstations and
servers - Identify training needs Visual Studio, OO
Concepts, AB Suite - Consider cleaning up your EAE 3.3 models
- Identify resources
- Understand that AB Suite is a new productand
not the next release of EAE
4Elements of a Migration Plan
Planning
- Goals - what you want to accomplish and in what
stages - Timeline
- Shows the sequence of required tasks
- Identifies the order in which applications are
migrated - Testing approach
- Required resources equipment and people
5Migration Experiences
6EAE to AB Suite Migration Status
- Eight customers running AB Suite applications in
production - 4 telephone companies in Latin America (3
installations) - 2 European customers
- 2 US customers
- At least 12 EAE customers actively migrating
- Japanese distributor
- Unisys Global Industries application (financial)
- Individual customers primarily in Europe and US
- Others will be starting later this year
7Customer Migration Example 1
- Unisys Global Communications Industries (GCI)
- Two LINC 16.3 applications
- Unisys Voice/Fax Messaging Solution (UVMS)
- Generalized Notification Server (GNS)
- Customized versions of both LINC applications
installed at customer sites worldwide
8Sampling of Communications Clients
Over 150 million mailboxes worldwide
9Migration Process UVMS and GNS
Customer Migration Example 1
- Two steps required
- LINC EAE AB Suite
- For initial project, both core applications and
customer-specific versions migrated and tested - Unisys tool customized for the LINC to EAE step
- Migration from host to workstation development
- Actual conversion steps took 1 person week
- Minimal testing with EAE version load and
generate - Most testing focused on AB Suite version of the
applications

11UVMS and GNS Migration Results
Customer Migration Example 1
- Current Status
- Four national telephone companies in production
- Two new to Unisys
- Two are multiple system installations
- Beginning to plan migration at other GCI accounts
- AB Suite version included in new proposals
- Benefits
- Significant modernization opportunities (SOA
foundation) - Additional connectivity and integration options
- New sales opportunities
12Customer Migration Example 2
- Large insurance company in the U. S.
- Multiple EAE applications
- Planned approach
- Convert smallest EAE application first
- Develop new application with AB Suite
- Convert remaining EAE applications in 2008
13Migration Process
Customer Migration Example 2
- Attended AB Suite Jumpstart Workshop
- Obtained installation assistance from Unisys
- Periodic teleconferences with Unisys engineering
- Ad hoc training
- Status and issues discussions
- Migrated application and went live in July 2007
14Migration Status
Customer Migration Example 2
- Going live was uneventful
- Some issues with OO implications in AB Suite vs.
EAE - In process of determining which application to
migrate next

Suite can have a big impact - Screen painter

25Why Move?
26Why Move to Agile Business Suite?
For Existing EAE Users
- Draws upon widely-available developer skills
- Hides complexity of implementing an SOA-based
solution - Easily integrate AB Suite-developed components
with other services - Supports deployment across multiple operating
environments - Easier and less costly maintenance of EAE
applications - Less code to maintain
- Potential to deliver componentized functional
enhancements - Safe passage from EAE 3.3
- Supports a business environment where change is
constant
27Ten Reasons to Move to
- Targeted at existing EAE customers
- Audience decision makers with a sidebar for
developers (the influencers) - Available in the eCommunity
28Moving from EAE to AB Suite
- Continuity gives us roots change gives us
branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach
new heights. - Pauline R. Kezer
