Title: Problem 5.3

1
Problem 5.3
  • Draw two different nonrectangular parallelograms
on a sheet of grid paper, and cut them out. Cut
one of your parallelograms into two pieces so
that the pieces can be reassembled to form a
rectangle. Do the same for the second
parallelogram. Use one of your parallelograms to
    complete parts A-C.

2
Part A
  • Record the base, height, perimeter, and area of
    the original parallelogram.

3
Part B
  • Record the length, width, perimeter, and area of
the rectangle you made from the parallelogram
    pieces.

4
Part C
  • What relationships do you see between the
measures for the rectangle and he measures for
the parallelogram from which it was made?

5
Follow-up
  • Use what you have learned to find the area and
perimeter of the parallelogram on page 50.
